Joint jsa claim (26 weeks pregnant)?

My partner lost his job 4 weeks ago, so we applied for jsa as a couple, When im 29 weeks I know I will go onto income support but the job centre told me to claim income support for me and my partner, I umed he would still have to sign on or stay on jsa surely?? We are not scroungers we have worked all our lives we have just been unfortunate in the last fiew weeks with job cuts!!
