Omg, please help me it itches and im not sure if its normal?

I just got surgery on my esophagus, and to put me to sleep that had to give me an IV through the vein in the crevice of my arm. They had to put a band aid there, but when i took it off today it started itching like crazy and now its really red. is it a alerrgic reaction or something else? please help
